Welcome to the Addis Today community! We are building a platform founded on trust, respect, and a shared passion for discovering the best of Addis Ababa. To ensure our space remains positive, safe, and genuinely helpful for everyone, we ask that you embrace the following guidelines.

Our goal is simple: to create a civilized, fun, and enjoyable environment where everyone feels welcome to explore and connect.

Our Guiding Principles

1. Be Authentic & Honest Your experiences matter. When you write a review, share your genuine opinion, whether it's good, bad, or somewhere in between. For our organizers and "fixers," this means providing accurate and truthful information about your listings and experiences. Authenticity is the cornerstone of trust on Addis Today.

2. Be Respectful Treat others as you would want to be treated. We are a diverse community of different backgrounds and opinions. Healthy debate and constructive feedback are welcome, but personal attacks, harassment, and disrespectful comments are not. Communicate with kindness, especially when interacting with event organizers or fellow users.

3. Be Helpful See an amazing new cafe? Had a fantastic experience on a guided hike? Share it! Your insights help others discover the hidden gems of our city. When leaving a review, try to be specific. What did you love? What could be improved? Helpful details make our community stronger.

4. Be Safe While we connect you online, many of your experiences will happen offline. Always use your best judgment when meeting new people or going to new places. Follow the instructions provided by event organizers and be aware of your surroundings. Communicate through our platform's messaging system (where provided) to maintain your privacy and security.

The Ground Rules (What We Don't Allow)

To protect the integrity of our community, the following are strictly forbidden:

Hate Speech, Harassment, or Discrimination: We have a zero-tolerance policy for content that attacks or demeans any individual or group based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, or sexual orientation.
Spam & Scams: No promotional content unrelated to Addis Today experiences, repetitive posts, or attempts to mislead or defraud other users. This includes posting fake listings for the purpose of collecting data.
Fake or Misleading Content: Do not create fake profiles, post fake reviews to either boost or harm a reputation, or intentionally misrepresent an event or service.
Threats or Incitement of Violence: Any content that threatens harm to yourself or others is not allowed and may be reported to law enforcement.
Privacy Violations: Do not share other people's private information without their explicit consent. This includes phone numbers, addresses, or private messages.
Illegal Activities or Content: Do not use Addis Today to promote or engage in any illegal activities.

How We Enforce Our Guidelines

We use a combination of automated systems and human moderation to monitor content on Addis Today. Violating these guidelines may result in content removal, feature limitations, or permanent suspension of your account.
