When was the last time you created something without worrying about how it would turn out?
In Scribble, Zion Yaynu sheds the weight of expectation and returns to the raw, electric energy of painting —the way she first fell in love with it. Known for her dynamic, explosive style, she layers acrylic, oil paint, and crayon in an unrestrained dance of movement and color. Paint spills over the edges of her canvases, intentionally breaking the illusion of a neatly contained masterpiece.
Scribble is her unapologetic return to that feeling, an ode to the way she used to create as a child.
Zion embraces the “and then” mindset: a way of creating that prioritizes the immediate next step over rigid planning. It’s the approach kids take when telling stories or making art: ‘And then this happens! And then that!’ acting on impulse, letting one idea spark the next without overthinking the outcome. There’s no concern for perfection, no hesitation over whether something “works”. In Scribble, Zion leans into this instinctive, unburdened way of making, choosing spontaneity over strategy, motion over meticulousness.
As a self-taught artist, she has often wrestled with the tension between execution and intuition, questioning whether to focus on outcome over process. Now, as she turns 30, she reclaims the creative freedom of her early years, choosing spontaneity, curiosity, and play over perfection. This collection is more than an artistic shift.
It is a deeply personal reckoning. In a world obsessed with polished final products, Scribble is a rebellion. It speaks to the need for unfiltered self-expression in a time when algorithms, expectations, and comparisons dictate so much of our creative output. Zion’s work reminds us that art isn’t just about mastery— it’s about feeling, about trust, about the thrill of making without a roadmap and trusting the process.
We invite you to resist the urge to analyze or decipher hidden meanings for each piece. Instead, step back. Let the raw, chaotic energy of Scribble ignite a childlike wonder in you.
